The anti-fray netting helps prolong the life of your flag. The idea is that wind and nature will attack the netting prolonging the life of your flag.

A must if you plan to hoist the flag outdoors
If you will hoisting the flag outdoors, this is a highly recommended addition. If you never plan to do so, then you might as well do without it.

Anti-fray netting
It seems very good, but as it is intended to prolong the life of the flag, it is hard to rate it when it has only just arrived. Hopefully I would be able to give it 5 stars in a year's time.
