By adding anti fray netting to the manufacturing process of your flag will not guarantee that your flag will last for ever.
The anti-fray netting helps prolong the life of your flag. The idea is that wind and nature will attack the netting prolonging the life of your flag.

Fitted it myself. Had a good test recently during the Coronation in good strong winds. God save the Flag.!!

If you will hoisting the flag outdoors, this is a highly recommended addition. If you never plan to do so, then you might as well do without it.
